Your Path Creative Art Therapy

As a therapist, a therapeutic art activity I often use with adolescents and young adults is having them draw their own path. This represents their path in life and helps me understand how they see themselves in their world and where they see themselves going.

Grab a blank sheet of paper and a pencil.

Start drawing your path. Is it made out of brick? Is it a dirt road or is it paved? Is it curvy or straight? Does your path go up and down?

Now looking down your path, what do you see?

Look up. Is it raining? Blue sky? Sunny or dark?

What do your signs say on your path?

What buildings or places are down your path?

Are you traveling alone or are you with others?

Are there any detours?

What is down your path? Where do you see yourself headed?
